Meet Dr. Jeff Blalock
Dr. Blalock is a native of Salinas, California. He made his way to Florida in 1987, serving in the US Navy as an aircraft electrician.
After his military service, Dr. Blalock graduated cum laude from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN with a B.S. in Vision Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1997.
Dr. Blalock began his optometry career as an independent contractor until March of 2000, when he joined our practice. In 2008 he opened the Fleming Island Pearle Vision where he continues to practice today.
Dr. Blalock’s specialties include Corneal Refractive Therapy, Dry eye Therapy, Contact lens fitting, Glaucoma Treatment, Lasik and Cataract Surgical Co-Management.
Meet Dr. Jack Rubin
Dr. Rubin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in 1973.
After school, Dr. Rubin practiced in Miami for over 30 years. He joined our practice in 2010 and works in the Gainesville office. He sees patients 8 years of age and older and specializes in contact lens fitting.
Outside of work, Dr. Rubin and his wife Kristin enjoy kayaking, bonsai, old cars and cooking.
Meet Dr. Scott Thiele
Dr. Thiele attended the Illinois College Of Optometry in Chicago. He graduated with his Doctor of Optometry in 2003.
Dr. Thiele joined our practice in 2003 and has been the primary doctor in our St. Augustine office since 2009.
In his free time, Dr. Thiele enjoys working on cars and is an avid marksman.
Meet Dr. Jon Scott Walker
OD, MS, FAAO
Dr. Walker has a B.S. from Oral Roberts University and a M.S. from Southern Illinois University. He received his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 1984.
Dr. Walker practiced in Minnesota for several years before joining our practice in 2001. While in Minnesota, he was on the Board of Optometry for 8 years and was Minnesota Optometrist of the year in 1989. Since joining our practice, Dr. Walker has practiced at our Avenues Mall location.
Dr. Walker is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and a Member of the Florida and American Optometric Association. He has conducted over 100 Clinical Trials, published over 30 articles, and is named on 3 Patents related to Contact Lenses and Implants after Cataract Surgery. Dr. Walker is a consultant to Alcon, Bausch+Lomb, and Vistakon and has been a speaker and lecturer in the industry for 30 years. In addition, Dr. Walker is a voting member of ASCAP and is an adjunct Professor for the Arizona College of Optometry
Meet Dr. Ann-Marie Connolly
Dr. Ann-Marie Connolly is a Jacksonville native. She attended Bishop Kenny High School and Jacksonville University. Dr. Connolly is a 2017 graduate of the University Of Houston’s College Of Optometry.
While attending optometry school, Dr. Connolly found that she particularly enjoyed interacting with pediatric patients and special needs patients. Dr. Connolly is also interested in disease management, including glaucoma and diabetes. She strives to help patients have a stress-free exam while also feeling comfortable with their options regarding their ocular health care.
Dr. Connolly, the youngest of 8 children, enjoys spending time with her large family, reading, and going to the movies.
Meet Dr. Brandon Sudduth, OD
Board Certified Optometrist
Dr. Sudduth grew up in Seattle Washington, and received his optometry degree from Midwestern University. After completing a rotation in the Sunshine State, he knew Jacksonville would be his forever home, and began practicing in Jacksonville in 2013.
Meet Dr. Ron Norman, OD
Dr. Ron Norman, O.D. has been practicing optometry since graduating in 2019. He has extensive experience in diagnosis and management of ocular pathology (including macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetes mellitus) as well as refractive services.
Ron was born and raised in Ormond Beach, Florida, and is new to the Jacksonville area.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Florida and went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree as well as a second Bachelor’s degree in Vision Science from Nova Southeastern University near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After practicing at an ophthalmology group in Ormond Beach for two years, he has recently moved to Jacksonville to further his career.
Ron is a member of the Florida Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry.
When Ron is not working, he enjoys reading and traveling.
Meet Dr. Erick Abreu, OD
Board Certified Optometrist
Dr. Erick Abreu is a Board Certified Optometrist. He attended Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in South Florida where he received his Bachelors in Visual Science and later his Doctor of Optometry degree.
Dr. Abreu completed internships at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida and private ophthalmologist practices which allowed him to focus in his areas of interest such as the management of ocular diseases including Glaucoma, Macular degeneration, and Diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Abreu is also trained in specialty contact lenses, low vision and binocular vision. He speaks both English and Spanish fluently.
Meet Dr. Darren Blom
Board Certified Optometrist
Dr. Blom started his education here in Jacksonville, Fl at UNF. He earned a BS in Visual Science at Southern College of the Health Sciences in North Miami Beach in 1992, then on to Nova Southeastern in Davie, FL where he earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1994.
After spending time in clinical rotations in and around Jacksonville, Dr. Blom opened his own practice in Jacksonville in 1996 where he practiced until 2009. Since then, Dr. Blom has been in group practice , joining our group in 2021.
In his spare time, Dr. Blom enjoys engaging in and supporting his two boys, and spending time with his wife of 25 yrs as the designated pack mule for all her many shopping bags, he says with a laugh.
